YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington junior Jenna Steele and Salisbury senior Rachel Clewer have been named the CAC Field Hockey Players of the Week for Sept. 29, 2014.

Mary Washington junior Jenna Steele was selected as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after turning in an impressive week for the Eagles, scoring once against Lynchburg before finding the cage four times in a 5-2 win over Washington & Lee. Steele now has 11 goals on the season, which leads the 16th-ranked Eagles' attack.

Salisbury senior Rachel Clewer was awarded as the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording her first solo shutout of the year on Wednesday at Johns Hopkins and following that up with a career-high 12 saves in a 3-1 win against No. 3 The College of New Jersey on Saturday. Clewer's 12 saves against TCNJ were four more than she had previously registered in her career, and most were not routine saves, as the Lions entered with one of the top scoring offenses in the country.

Salisbury is #2, Christopher Newport #12 and Mary Washington #16 in the NFHCA Rankings ... Christopher Newport senior Belle Tunstall led the Captains to a 6-0 victory over Ferrum with two goals and two assists, bumping her career goal total to 39 and moving her into sole possession of third-place on the program's all-time goals list. The shutout win was CNU's fourth shutout of the season ... St. Mary's seventh-year head coach Katie Newkirk '06 became the school's all-time winningest coach with a 3-0 shutout win over Eastern Mennonite Saturday. With 57 career wins, Newkirk surpassed her former coach, Megan Block, who coach from 2003-2007 and posted a 56-30 record ... Freshman Autumn Mallory led York to a big 4-1 win over Lynchburg on Saturday with two goals and an assist.
