Six UMW Players Named to 2014 All-CAC Field Hockey Team

Six University of Mary Washington field hockey players have been named to the 2014 All-Capital Athletic Conference team, as announced on Wednesday.

Juniors Carlee Budd, Haley Kane, and Jenna Steele were named to the first team, while junior Kathleen Namey, senior Christine Downie, and sophomore Christine Loehr were named to the second team.

Budd, a defender, gained first team honors after taking second team accolades a season ago, scoring seven goals and adding six assists to go with four defensive saves. Kane is a repeat first team selection after scoring nine goals and adding a team-high 10 assists. Steele, the Eagles' leading scorer, gained first team honors for the first time after posting 18 goals and seven assists.

Namey scored eight goals and added five assists from her defender position, while Downie, the Eagles' lone senior, scored 10 goals and picked up four assists. Loehr scored eight goals and added seven assists for her first all-conference honor.
