#18 UMW Field Hockey Blanks Bridgewater, 3-0

The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington field hockey team shut out Bridgewater College on Wednesday night in Bridgewater to improve to 4-1 on the season. Haley Kane, Carlee Budd, and Jenna Steele scored for the Eagles.

Mary Washington opened the scoring in the 17th minute, as Kane scored her fifth goal of the season. Then, five minutes before halftime, Budd scored on a Kathleen Namey assist to up the UMW lead to 2-0.

Junior Jenna Steele capped the scoring ten minutes into the second half unassisted. Mary Washington led in shots, 20-14, and in penalty corners, 10-8. Sophomore goalie Megan McLaughlin had six saves for Mary Washington, and Budd added a defensive save. Bridgewater's Amanda Harper had eight saves.

The Eagles will return to action on Sunday when they host Shenandoah University at 1:00 p.m. At halftime the school will recognize the seven members of the field hockey program who have been named to the Capital Athletic Conference's Silver Anniversary Team.
