UMW Sees Five Field Hockey Players Named to VaSID All-State Team

Bridgewater College’s Caroline Augsburger and Allyson Kenyon took home the Player and Coach of the Year Awards Friday afternoon with the release of the 2014 Virginia Sports Information Directors College Division All-State Field Hockey Teams.

Augsburger, a senior midfielder, recently earned second-team National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American honors. She nabbed first-team NFHCA All-Region accolades and also was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year. For the season, she tallied 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points and had two game-winning scores.

Kenyon was named the ODAC Coach of the Year after leading her Eagles to their first ODAC Championship game. She reached the 100-win milestone for her career after a 12-8 campaign.

Jenna Rampale from Shenandoah earned the All-State Rookie of the Year Award. The goalkeeper received second team All-ODAC honors and ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades after helping the Hornets to a program-record 12 wins. She had 115 saves and two shutouts.

The University of Mary Washington boasts four members on the all-state first team squad in Jenna Steele, Kathleen namey, Haley Kane, and Christina Loehr, with Carlee Budd taking second team honors. Lynchburg College, Bridgewater College and Christopher Newport University each have two representatives on the first team.
