UMW Riding Teams Captures First Place at VCU Show

The University of Mary Washington riding team claimed seven first place ribbons in taking the overall team title at the VCU show in Richmond on Saturday.

The Eagles took first place with 43 points, six points ahead of second place VCU. Alyssa Zarzecki gained reserve high point rider for the day with blue ribbons in intermediate on the flat and intermediate over fences classes. Molly Banfield won her open on the flat class, and Kimberly Counts took first in her intermediate on the flat class.

Andrew Kalasky won his novice on the flat class, Alyssa Smallridge was first in her advanced walk-trot-canter class, and Jamie Houlgrave won her walk-trot class.

The Eagles will return to action on October 26 when they travel back to Richmond for a show hosted by Randolph-Macon College and the University of Richmond.
