UMW Clinches Region Championship;Zarzecki Takes Reserve High Point Rider as Banfield Advances to Nationals

The University of Mary Washington riding team clinched the regional championship on Sunday with a win at the Eagles' second home show of the weekend. Alyssa Zarzecki took reserve high point rider on the day, winning her open on the flat class.

Molly Banfield won her open on the flat class, gaining high point rider in the region, and will advance to the IHSA National show.

The Eagles finished the season with 308 points, outdistancing second-place VCU, who had 256. The team advances to the zone championships in April. UMW will host regionals this Sunday February 23.  The Eagles have seven different individuals qualified in 10 different classes.  The start time will be noon.
