UMW Baseball Falls to No. 11 Chris. Newport

Despite holding No. 11 Christopher Newport scoreless for the first three innings, the Mary Washington baseball team (25-12) fell, 11-0, in Fredericksburg, Va. on Saturday afternoon.

The first three innings for Connor Hassan were fantastic as the freshman held the Captains to just one baserunner, but the Eagles yielded a pair of runs in the fourth, falling behind 2-0.

Not much else went the Eagles way as they picked up their first hit in the fifth inning when Ty Lowe and Tommy Martinez reached on base hits to begin the inning, but weren't able to be pushed across.

The Captains scored five in the fifth, then four in the eighth.

Martinez went 2-for-3, while Cooper Fulton drew a walk. Meanwhile, Jamie Kotula worked 2.1 innings out of the bullpen, yielding a run, while Griffin Graham worked a scoreless ninth.

The Eagles are back in action on May 10 for the Coast-to-Coast Conference Tournament. The Eagles will be the No. 3 seed, while the host has yet to be determined.
