UMW Baseball Completes Comeback Against Penn State-Harrisburg

The Mary Washington baseball team completed the comeback on Tuesday in an 8-3 victory over Penn State-Harrisburg in Fredericksburg, Va.

The Eagles trailed 2-0 until the fifth inning when they tied the game on an RBI double from Ryan Schwarz, then Noah Roots' RBI single. 

Penn State-Harrisburg scored in the sixth inning as it took a 3-2 lead, but the Eagles would punch back in the seventh and take the lead for good.

Ty Lowe would tie it with an RBI single, then Bobby Ayscue gave the Eagles the lead with a two-out, two-RBI triple, 5-3.

In the eighth, UMW scored three more runs to push the game out of reach as Schwarz drove in a run with a fielder's choice ground out. Then, Roots and Lowe would follow with RBI singles to push the Eagles' lead to 8-3.

Gavin Riley went seven strong, yielding three runs in seven innings, while striking out five, while Connor Hassan finished off the final two innnings for the Eagles.

Mary Washington is back in action on Wednesday with a matchup at Shenandoah as first pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
