UMW Baseball Tops Manhattanville, 8-5, on Saturday in Myrtle Beach

The University of Mary Washington baseball team defeated Manhattanville College, 8-5, on Saturday in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Eagles improve to 7-4 on the season.

Mary Washington fell behind early, as Manhattanville scored two runs in the first and one in the second. The Eagles scored a pair in the third, as Owen Reilly hit a solo home run, and Ty Lowe provided an RBI double, but Manhattanville added one back in the bottom of the third for a 4-2 lead.

Mary Washington forged ahead in the fifth, as Chris Rubano scored on an error, before Bobby Ayscue hit a two-run homer. UMW added a pair of runs in the seventh, as Nick Cifredda hit a two-run double, and added another in the ninth on a Noah Roots homer.

Ayscue led the Eagles at the plate two singles and a home run, scored three runs, and drove in two. Lowe and Ciufredda each had a single and double.

Ryan Dudak picked up the win after a scoreless fourth inning, prior to the Eagles taking the lead for good.

UMW will be back ina ction again on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., as the Eagles host Randolph-Macon College.
