The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped an 11-5 decision to Penn State Harrisburg on Friday at Dickinson Stadium to fall to 9-14 on the season.
The Lions opened the scoring with a run in the first and two in the second. Battling a steady rain, the Eagles answered with two runs in the fourth. With one out, Tyler Ray singled, and advanced to third on a double from Christian Hague. Ray scored on a wild pitch before Hague crossed the plate on an RBI single from Norman Holcomb.
The Lions scored six times in the seventh, but the Eagles came right back with three in their half. Nick Bass reached on an error, moved to third on a single from Kevin France, and scored on another hit from Garrett Lyons. Stephen Johnston followed with a two-run double. Harrisburg added two in the eighth for the final margin.
France led the Eagles with a pair of hits and scored one run. Senior Hank Biggs took the loss, allowing three runs in six innings on five hits with six walks against six strikeouts.
The two teams will complete their series on Saturday with a noon doubleheader.
