UMW Baseball Falls to Bridgewater, 13-8, on Tuesday

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 13-8 decision to Bridgewater College on Tuesday afternoon at Dickinson Stadium.

After Bridgewater scored a run in the first, UMW responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Freshman Norman Holcomb provided and RBI double, and came around to score on a Garrett Lyons single. 

Bridgewater scored three runs in the second, one in the third, and six in the fourth to take an 11-2 lead. The Eagles responded with three runs in the fifth and another in the sixth. With the bases loaded with one out in the fifth, Sam Freeborne was hit by a pitch to score a run, and another scored on a wild pitch. Christian Hague provided a sacrifice fly for the third run of the fifth. Mike Flosser's bases-loaded infield single added the Eagles' sixth run of the day.

Bridgewater would add two runs in the eighth, and UMW answered with two of their own, with Lyons providing a two-run triple.

Lyons led the Eagles with a single and triple, with three RBI and a run scored. Holcomb doubled and walked twice. Alex Ford took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits with two walks in 1.1 innings.

UMW will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Marymount University at 3:00 pm.
