UMW got on the board early in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Garrett Lyons came up to bat and worked a walk to score Barrett and take a 1-0 lead. Christian Hague then grounded out to shortstop, but scored Holcomb to help UMW go up 2-0.

The Eagles kept it going in the second inning as Nick Bass led off the inning with a walk and a single from Kevin France put Bass on third. After Tyler Ray was hit by a pitch, Barrett singled home Bass to extend the lead to 3-0.

UMW managed three walks, and one hit over the next four innings but couldn't get a run across the plate.
