UMW Baseball Drops Friday Twinbill to Penn State Harrisburg

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a pair of Capital Athletic Conference games to visiting Penn State Harrisburg, 14-0 amd 4-0, on Friday at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles fall to 15-11-1 overall, and 4-5 in CAC action.

In the opener, the Lions scored a run in the third, and added big innings in the fifth, seventh, and eighth. Harrisburg notched eight hits and were the beneficiaries of eight Eagle errors. Garrett Lyons, Ramsis Ruiz, Christian Colangelo, and Mason Riser collected hits for UMW. Junior Joe Thompson took the loss, allowing two earned runs in five innings, allowing five hits and walking two while striking out one.

In the second game, the Lions scored twice in the third and once each in the sixth and seventh for the 4-0 victory. Both teams had five hits in the game. Lyons led UMW with a pair of singles, and Christian Hague doubled for the Eagles. Hank Biggs took the loss, allowing two earned runs on four hits in 6.1 innings, walking two and striking out three.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday when they visit Christopher Newport University at 3:00 p.m.
