UMW Baseball Falls at Salisbury in 2017 CAC Championship

Playing their third game in less than 24 hours, the University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 21-0 decision at Salisbury University on Saturday in the 2017 Capital Athletic Conference Championship. The Eagles close the season with a 20-19 record.

Salisbury quickly jumped ahead with an eight run first inning on five hits, and added two in the third and one in the sixth. The Sea Gulls added one in the seventh, five in the eighth, and four in the ninth.

Brian Burns led the Eagles with a pair of hits, as the Eagles tallied six hits in the game. UMW committed six errors, leading to five unearned runs.

Cole Gabrielle took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing seven earned runs on eight hits. He posted four strikeouts.

The Eagles close the season with a record of 20-19, their third straight 20 win season, and advanced to the CAC Championship for the first time since 2011.
