UMW Baseball Drops 7-0 Decision at CNU in Thursday CAC Contest

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 7-0 decision at Christopher Newport University on Thursday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles slip to 9-6 overall, and 2-2 in CAC play.

The game remained scoreless for three innings, before the Captains scored once in the fourth. The Captains added four runs in a pivotal fifth inning, and added single runs in the sixth and eighth.

The Eagles were limited to two hits, with senior Thomas Weaver posting a single and a pair of walks, and freshman Christian Hague adding a single.

Senior Mick McIntyre took the loss for UMW, allowing six earned runs on 11 hits in 5.2 innings, with two walks and six strikeouts. Freshman Robert Cross allowed one run on two hits in 2.2 innings, with no walks and four strikeouts.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Salisbury University in a CAC doubleheader starting at noon.
