#18 UMW Baseball Tops Lehman, 12-7, on Friday in Myrtle Beach

The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington baseball team improved to 11-1 on the season with a 12-7 victory over Lehman College on Friday night in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Senior shortstop James Keller had five hits and junior third baseman Thomas Weaver added four in the game to lead the way for the Eagles.

UMW scored three times in the second, as Weaver provided a two-run double and scored on a Keller single. In the third, James Sink doubled and scored on a groundout, knotting the score, as Lehman scored twice in the first and twice in the second.

Weaver walked and scored on a Keller double in the fifth to reclaim the lead, and outslugged Lehman in the seventh. The Eagles plated five runs in the frame, only to see Lehman come back with three runs, giving UMW a 10-7 advantage.

The Eagles saw Weaver score on a Keller double in the eighth, and Mitch Moynihan clubbed a solo home run in the ninth to give the Eagles a 12-7 win.

Sophomore Joe Thompson gained the win in relief, as he allowed three runs in 5.1 innings, with no walks and eight strikeouts.

UMW will return to action on Saturday when they face Penn College at 3:00 p.m. in Myrtle Beach.
