UMW Baseball Falls at Frostburg, 7-2, in Saturday Morning CAC Tourney Game

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision at Frostburg State University on Saturday morning in the winner's bracket of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. The Eagles will play the winner of Saturday's noon contest between Christopher Newport and Salisbury at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Bobcats scored the game's first run in the third inning on an RBI single, and added anothet in the top of the fifth inning on another single.

The Eagles cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the frame, as Kyle Bynum singled with two outs, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. James Keller followed with an RBI single to right field.

The Bobcats ran the lead to 7-1 by scoring three in the sixth and twice in the seventh. The Eagles scored in the bottom of the seventh, as Thomas Weaver doubled with one out, and Brian Burns singled to put runners on the corners. Bynum followed with a sacrifice fly.

Bynum led the Eagles with a 1-2 performance at the plate, with a run scored and sacrifice fly. Keller added the RBI single, and Weaver doubled.

Sophomore Nick McIntyre took the loss for the Eagles, allowing five earned runs in five innings, with four walks. Bernie Mayflower, Erik Jorgenson, and Paul McClure pitched scoreless innings of relief.

The Eagles will face the winner of today's noon Christopher Newport/Salisbury game at 4 p.m., with the winner of that game advancing to the championship series tomorrow.
