UMW Baseball Falls at St. Mary's, 6-2, on Wednesday

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 6-2 decision at St. Mary's College on Wednesday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles fall to 13-5 overall and 3-5 in league play.

The Eagles scored in the first as Justin Kime singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a Jono Haught RBI single. St. Mary's scored all six of its runs in the second inning, as UMW committed a pair of errors and three runs came in on bases loaded walks. All six runs were unearned.

UMW scored another run in the seventh, as Haught drove in Kyle Bynum with a single. Kime had three hits to lead UMW, while Haught added two hits and two RBI. James Keller and Thomas Weaver both had doubles.

Sophomore Nick McIntyre took the loss for the Eagles, allowing two hits and two walks in 1.2 innings pitched, with one strikeout. Joe Thompson pitched 5.1 innings of three-hit relief with no runs allowed.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they visit York College of Pa. at noon for a doubleheader.
