UMW Baseball Falls to Randolph-Macon, 5-3

The University of Mary Washington baseball team overcame an early 3-0 deficit but fell, 5-3, on Tuesday at Dickinson Stadium to visiting Randolph-Macon College. The Eagles fall to 13-18 on the season.

Randolph-Macon jumped ahead with three runs in the first, but the Eagles chipped away with one run in the second and two in the fourth to knot the score. In the second, after three straight singles to open the inning, James Keller scored on a double play. In the fourth, a pair of runs scored when Kevin Stein's grounder to shortstop was mishandled.

The Jackets scored once in the sixth and once in the eighth for the win. Keller and Stein each had two hits to lead the Eagle attack. Freshman Cole mJarvis took the loss for the Eagles, allowing one run on four hits in two innings.

UMW will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Southern Virginia University at 3:00 p.m.
