UMW Baseball Falls at CNU, 8-0

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a Capital Athletic Conference game at Christopher Newport University, 8-0, on Friday in Newport News. The Eagles fall to 12-12 on the year.

The Captains scored three in the third, three in the fourth, and a pair in the seventh. The Eagles notched seven hits in the contest, led by James Sink's single and double, Jono Haught's pair of hits, and Connor Finnerty's long double.

Sophomore Tyler Daig took the loss for UMW, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in 3.2 innings of work, walking one and striking out three. Bernie Mayflower allowed two runs on four hits in 2.1 innings, and Nick McIntyre allowed one earned run on three hits in an inning. Freshman Erik Jorgensen pitched a scoreless eight for the Eagles.

Mary Washington is slated to host York College in a noon doubleheader on Sunday at Dickinson Stadium in a pair of CAC contests.
