Mancari, Jordan, Black Lead Five UMW Players on All-CAC Baseball Team

YORK, Pa. - Salisbury has been among the top-ranked teams in the country all year and captured the CAC regular-season and post-season tournament titles. The Sea Gulls were rewarded by the conference coaches with 10 all-conference awards, including seven on the first team and the 10th Coach of the Year award for the architect, Doug Fleetwood. Frostburg State junior outfielder Kevin Kean (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) was named the Player of the Year while Wesley freshman outfielder Trevor Mears (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) was selected as the Rookie of the Year. Kean was one of six Bobcats to earn all-conference honors while Mears and two Wolverine teammates received post-season recognition by the CAC coaches. Junior outfielder Bill Root (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) led the parade of Sea Gulls on the All-CAC team. Root, the 2011 CAC Rookie of the Year, earned his third-straight first-team All-CAC award. Joining Root on the All-CAC first team were senior outfielder Nick Gentry (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air), senior DH Evan Graci (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt), junior infielder Quinn Griffith (Federalsburg, Md./North Caroline), junior infielder Johnny Schiotis (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), sophomore pitcher Dan Fein (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) and sophomore infielder Bobby Sanzone (Forest Hill, Md./Our Lady of Mt. Carmel). Second-team All-CAC honors were awarded to senior pitcher Andrew Levy (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), sophomore infielder Austin Barefoot (La Plata, Md./La Plata) and sophomore pitcher Brett Collacchi (Bear, Del./St. Mark’s). Levy was a first-team all-star in 2012. Kean, who joined 2011 winner Greg Ross as Bobcats who have been named CAC Baseball Player of the Year, was one of three Frostburg State players to earn first-team All-CAC recognition. He was joined on the first-team All-CAC squad by junior catcher Dylan Shupe (Delmar, Del./Delmar) and senior infielder J.K. Filauro (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay). Second-team All-CAC recognition was presented to FSU junior pitcher Kenny Georgius (Westminster, Md./Westminster), senior infielder Jon Keeler (Waldorf, Md./North Point) and junior outfielder Rob Jennings (Hanover, Md./Meade). Mears is the second Wesley player to be named the CAC Baseball Rookie of the Year, joining 2009 winner D.J. Keckler in that exclusive club. Senior teammates Jordan Lozzi (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) earned first-team all-star honors as a pitcher while Corey Jefferson (Wilmington, Del./Archmere) gained second-team recognition at catcher. Lozzi was a second-team All-CAC choice in 2012. Mary Washington, which finished second in the CAC regular-season chase, picked up five all-conference awards, including the second-straight first-team honors for senior pitcher Torey Mancari (Warrenton, Va./Paul VI). Joining Mancari on the All-CAC first team are senior infielder Seth Jordan (Springfield, Va./South County) and junior reliever Jake Black (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge). Eagles selected for the All-CAC second team included senior pitcher Mike Straub (Falls Church, Va./George Mason), a two-time second-team all-star, and sophomore catcher Jono Haught (Spotsylvania, Va./Courtland). York, which advanced to the 2013 CAC Tournament championship game, placed senior infielders Dustin Worthman (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) and Justin Cohen (Severn, Md./Old Mill) on the All-CAC first team along with senior outfielder Drew Frankenfield (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) and junior outfielder Andrew Hershey (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) on the second team. Worthman picked up his second career All-CAC award.
