The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 10-5 decision at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday in Baltimore to fall to 7-7 on the season.

The Eagles jumped ahead in the first, scoring twice in the top of the inning. After Conner Lilley single and was sacrificed to second, Seth Jordan walked and Brendan Jones was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sophomore T.J. Cretney followed with a two-run single to put UMW ahead, 2-0.

The Blue Jays tok the lead and control with four in the second, one in the third, and four more in the fourth. Four of the nine runs were unearned as the Eagle defense struggled to four errors on the day.

UMW plated three runs in the seventh, as Lilley walked an Cam Kostyack was hit by a pitch. Jordan followed with an RBI single, and catcher Jono Haught walked to load the bases. Stephen Weidman provided an RBI groundout and Cretney singled to shortstop to cap the scoring.

Offensively, the Eagles were led by Cretney, who was 3-4 with three RBI and accounting for half of UMW's six hits. James Sink doubled and Jordan and Lilley singled for the Eagles.

Senior lefty Torey Mancari took the loss for the Eagles, allowing eight hits and five earned runs in four innings, with four walks and four strikeouts.

Mary Washington will visit Virginia Wesleyan College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
