UMW Baseball Falls to Bridgewater, 3-0

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Bridgewater College on Wednesday afternoon at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles pitchers allowed two earned runs in nine innings, but the Eagles could only scratch out four hits in the contest.

Bridgewater scored in the third inning on a two-out single, and another in the fourth on an unearned run after a two-out error. BC added a third run in the eighth after a single, two stolen bases, and another hit.

The Eagles saw another good effort from starting pitcher Torey Mancari, who scattered nine hits in eight innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out eight. Sophomore Jake Black allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

Offensively, UMW was led by freshman Chris King, who had two hits, while senior Shane Sixsmith and senior Brent Steffey each added one.

The Eagles (1-3-1) will be back in action on Saturday when they host Penn State Altoona in a noon doubleheader.
