UMW Baseball Falls at Bridgewater



The University of Mary Washington baseball team fell behind early and couldn't scratch back in a 10-3 loss at Bridgewater College on Sunday. The Eagles will close the season on Tuesday at home against Methodist University.

Bridgewater scored first with one run in the second inning, and tacked on six runs in the third. The Eagles scored twice in the fourth as senior Brent Steffey singled and scored on Seth Jordan's double. With two outs, Jordan scored on a single by Connor Finnerty.

The Eagles added another run in the fifth, as Jake Rudman reached on an error and scored on a groundout by Ben Sisk. In all, the Eagles rapped out 10 hits, but could only push three runs across. Finnerty led UMW with a single and double, while Santino Rosanova added a pair of singles.

Sophomore Jake Black took the loss for UMW, allowing seven runs on six hits in 2.1 innings, while Chris Somerville allowed three runs in 5.2 innings of relief.

The Eagles will host Methodist University on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the season finale.
