UMW Baseball Falls at Johns Hopkins, 8-4

The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped an 8-4 decision at Johns Hopkins University on Tuesday afternoon in Baltimore, Md. The Eagles fall to 11-19-1 on the season.

The Blue Jays scored first with a run in the second. The Eagles scored twice in the fifth to take a 2-1 lead. Kevin Yarnell led off the inning with a single, followed by a walk to Santino Rosanova. Jonathan Haught singled to right to plate one run, and Connor Finnerty singled down the left field line to drive in the second.

Johns Hopkins scored three times in the fifth to take the lead, and added one run in the seventh and three in the eighth. The Eagles added single runs in the seventh and the ninth.

UMW was led by Jake Rudman's single and double, and Haught and Finnerty each had two singles. Ben Sisk added an RBI double. Sophomore Jake Black took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in six innings, with three walks and one strikeout.

The Eagles will visit Newport News Apprentice School on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
