UMW Baseball Falls at Wesley, 6-5

Freshman catcher Jonathan Haught hit a solo homer and a two-run double, but it wasn't enough as the University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 6-5 decision at Wesley College on Friday in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles fall to 10-13-1 overall and 4-9 in league play.

The Wolverines built a 5-2 lead through six innings, but the Eagles plated three runs in the sventh to tie the game at five. Santino Rosanova and Jeff Rezach singled, and Haught followed with his two-run double. Haught scored on a Ben Sisk sacrifice fly to tie the game.

Wesley scored the winning run in the eighth, as Rob Benedict walked, stole second and third, and scored on a ground ball. Torey Mancari allowed four earned runs in four innings, with five walks and four strikeouts. Nick McGovern took the loss in relief, allowing one run on no hits in 1.1 innings.

Haught was 2-4 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead UMW. Seth Jordan went 1-2 with two walks as well.

The teams will return to action for a 1:00 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
