#22 UMW Baseball Falls to St. Mary's, 6-1

The 22nd ranked University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 6-1 decision to visiting St. Mary's College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Friday at Dickinson Stadium. UMW falls to 15-6 overall and 5-5 in league play.

The Seahawks scored three times in the third inning and three more in the ninth. UMW scratched out just five hits, plating one run in the fifth.

Freshman Mitchell Herringshaw (Chardon, Ohio, Notre Dame Latin) was the lone Eagles with multiple hits on the day. Senior Parker Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va., Cape Henry Collegiate) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in two-plus innings. Junior Matt Abramson (Malvern, Pa., Conestoga) allowed just three hits in six innings, until the Seahawks touched him for four hits in the ninth. Abramson struck out eight.

Mary Washington will visit St. Mary's for a CAC doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
