Mary Washington took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning of the first game, on a pair of solo home runs, from Will Wright and Alex Howell. Though the Sea Gulls would get a run back in the first, they would not take their first lead of the game until the home half of the sixth inning.
Salisbury entered the sixth trailing 5-4, but Andrew Miller led off the inning with a four-pitch walk. Miller was retired at second on a groundball by Brad Baylis, but Baylis was able to beat the relay throw at first. Senior Brian Green helped the Sea Gulls capitalize on Baylis’ hustle by blasting a home run to left-center field. The two-run shot, Green's seventh of the year, gave Salisbury the 6-5 lead.
The blast made a winner of junior Drew Baldwin who worked 3 2/3 innings in relief. He gave way to senior Chad Wolfe who was able to work out of a jam in the top of the seventh for his fourth save of the season.
The Eagles began the seventh with a double and a single to put runners at the corners with no outs. Wolfe was able to get a pop out to shallow left field, keeping the runners in place. A groundball to Green at third base began a 5-4-3 double play that would end the game and clinch the regular-season title for Salisbury.
The second game saw a similar start as the Eagles (18-10, 10-8 CAC) jumped out to an 8-3 lead through the top of the fifth inning before Salisbury began to chip away. The Sea Gulls (22-6, 14-4 CAC) put up three runs in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 8-4.
But the real damage came in the bottom of the seventh when Salisbury put together five runs on four hits and took advantage of three Mary Washington errors to earn the win. Wolfe came home for the game winner that should have been the final out of the inning.
