UMW Baseball Edges Stevenson, 4-3, in 10 Innings

The University of Mary Washington baseball team defeated Stevenson University, 4-3, in 10 innings on Wednesday in Stevenson, Md. The Eagles improve to 17-6 overall, and keep their hopes of the CAC regular season title alive by moving to 9-4 in conference play.

The Eagles plated three runs in the third inning as junior Eric Rehbein (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga) singled up the middle, and scored on and RBI double by Will Wright (St. Louis, Mo., St. Louis Priory). After Seth Jordan (Springfield, Va., South County) walked, he and Wright moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Alex Howell (Glen Allen, Va., Hermitage). Third baseman Santino Rosanova (Laurel, Md., DeMatha) singled to left center field, scoring both runners.

Stevenson tied the game with three runs in the seventh on four hits, led by a three-run homer. The Eagles plated the winning run in the 10th inning, as Howell doubled to lead off the inning, and scored on a double by Nick Espinosa (Arnold, Md., Broadneck).

Freshman Nick Corbin (Staunton, Va., Buffalo Gap) earned the win in relief, allowing one hit in 3.1 innings striking out three. Rehbein pitched 6.2 innings as the starter, allowing three runs on six hits, walking none and striking out two.

Rehbein, Wright, Espinosa, and Rosanova each had two hits for the Eagles, with Seamus Bergen (Fredericksburg, Va., Chancellor) adding a double.

The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday as they visit Bridgewater College on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
