Mark Matthews
One of the leaders of the baseball program’s ascension as a national power, Mark Matthews (’94) was one of the top pitchers in program history. The only four-year first team All-Capital Athletic Conference pitcher in league history, Matthews led Mary Washington to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances and three conference titles. A two-time all-region selection, he posted a 23-7 career record at MWC, and followed with three successful seasons in minor league baseball. He was named in 2015 to the Capital Athletic Conference Silver Anniversary team, recognizing the top 25 players in conference history.
