2012 Field Hockey Team
The 2012 University of Mary Washington field hockey team advanced to the NCAA Division III final four with a 20-2 overall record. Winners of the CAC Championship, the Eagles started the year receiving votes in the national poll, and spent the second half of the season ranked inside the top ten.
The Eagles opened the season with 11 straight wins, including over nationally-ranked Lebanon Valley, Lynchburg, and Catholic. After a double overtime loss on the road, UMW closed the regular season with five straight wins, including a 3-2 win over #1 Salisbury.
UMW cruised through the CAC tournament with multi-goal wins over St. Mary’s and Wesley, and then defeated Eastern and Lynchburg to reach the second final four in program history.
