Virginia Lottery Presents Inside the Nest: Victoria Chanthyasak-White, Track & Field

 In 2020-21, the University of Mary Washington Athletic Department is continuing its student-athlete spotlight series, "Inside the Nest", presented by Virginia Lottery. Each month, we will be celebrating student-athletes from different communities within our department, as a partnership with the James Farmer Multicultural Center's Cultural Awareness series. This month, we will celebrate Black History Month. Today, we meet a senior from the track and field team, Victoria Chanthyasak-White!

The community and growth that I have found over the past four years

Explore downtown with friends

 

Fun fact about me:

I am a first gen on my maternal side to be born in America.

 

Favorite UMW memory:

Pre-COVID as a freshman realizing all the awesome traditions we have such as getting in the fountain.

 

What has playing at UMW meant to you:

It has been something that has helped build my character and stretched me as a young adult, becoming a crucial part to my experience at UMW

 

Post-graduate plans:

I desire to work within a corporation or in higher education as a diversity officer or in a HR department working on inclusion and diversity for those I work with.

 

I would like to thank:

My family and friends who have supported me through my journey as well as my professors that have taken the time to push me as a student. I would also like to thank my coaches for putting their best foot forward during my time.

 

What does Black history month mean to you?

Black history month is a culmination of gratitude and reflection on the sacrifices made by those before me. It is also a profound reminder of the work that is done daily by those today to continue the fight for justice and equality and challenges us all to do better now.
