The University of Mary Washington Athletic Department has launched a new student-athlete spotlight, "Inside the Nest." Each month, we will be celebrating student-athletes from different communities within our department. The focus for March is Women's History Month.

Why did you choose University of Mary Washington?

I loved the close-knit feeling of the campus community and everyone was so welcoming! I like the idea that I could walk down campus walk and wave to people because I would recognize people from other sports teams, classes, or clubs. I also thought the campus was pretty!

Favorite Spot on Campus?

My favorite spot on campus has always been the treehouses in the library! It's always a nice spot when you need to escape for a bit (especially if you need to do work)!

What are your plans post Mary Wash?

I am returning to Mary Wash next year to finish my Masters in Special Education! Then I'll be off to teaching!

What advice would you give incoming Eagles?

I always suggest to incoming students that they need to put themselves out there and get involved on campus. Joining other clubs and organizations is a great way to meet other people and make good connections. Even just talking to other students in your classes!

What does Women's History Month mean to you?

It makes me extremely grateful for the opportunities I've had at Mary Wash especially with athletics! I realize that I would not have had the same experiences without the women that fought for women's rights and gender equality. I am proud of everything that we have accomplished but I know there is still a long way to go.
