Hopkins, Kurtz, and Hendrickson All Gain CAC Players of the Week

University of Mary Washington student-athletes Lauren Hopkins (field hockey), Ken Kurtz (men's soccer), and Lindsey Hendrickson (women's soccer) have been named as Capital Athletic Conference Players of the Week, as announced on September 24.

Field Hockey:
Junior Lauren Hopkins scored three goals, marking her second straight hat trick, as Mary Washington defeated Washington & Lee, 4-0, on Wednesday, and added one score in a 4-3 win over Shenandoah on Saturday. She became the first UMW player since Morgan Jones in 2011 to record back to back hat tricks, and provided the game-winning goal in both Eagle contests this week.She moved into ninth place in school history with her 38th career goal, which came on Saturday.

Men's Soccer:
Sophomore Ken Kurtz recorded a pair of shutouts this week, as #17 Mary Washington defeated Catholic and Widener to improve to 7-0-1. He recorded fours saves against the Cardinals and two against Widener, and lowered his season goals-against average to 0.25, having allowed two goals through eight games with 29 saves.

Women's Soccer:
Freshman Lindsey Hendrickson led Mary Washington to a pair of non conference wins this week, scoring four goals as the Eagles improved to 4-1-1 on the year. On Friday at Marymount, Hendrickson was one of four Eagles to score in a 4-0 victory over the Saints, and on Sunday she added her first collegiate hat trick as UMW defeated Meredith, 5-0.​
