Junior field hockey standout Jenna Steele (shown with Aric Wagner) has been named as the UMW Wagner Wealth Management Athlete of the Month for September.
Steele, an all-region and all-conference pick a year ago, has picked up where she left off last season for the Eagles through the first month of the season, scoring a team-high 11 goals and adding three assists.
She scored multiple points in four games, including a four-goal outburst at Washington & Lee University last Saturday. She scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over nationally-ranked Catholic University, and also netted the game winner against W&L. She scored at least one point in eight of the Eagles' 10 games through September 30.
