Junior cross country all-region selection Liz Green and junior men's soccer all-conference pick David Heller were named the University of Mary Washington scholar-athletes of the year on Thursday night.

Green, who won the 2011 CAC Runner of the Year award, gained all-conference and all-region honors in 2012. A business administration major from Viera, Fla., Green boasts a 3.9 cumulative grade-point average. She has gained academic accolades at UMW, the Capital Athletic Conference, the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association, and the United States Cross Country/Track and Field Coaches Association. She is studying abroad this semester.

Heller, an All-Capital Athletic Conference selection as a defender, is a business administration major from Alexandria, Va. He has maintained over a 3.6 cumulative GPA and has been recognized academically by UMW, the Capital Athletic Conference, and the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association.
