STATEMENT OF MISSION AND VALUES FOR UMW ATHLETICS
The department of Athletics at the University of Mary Washington engages our community to teach, support and celebrate our student-athletes in their quest for excellence. We bring Eagles together through events we host on campus and participate in across the nation. We provide opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders to develop strong values through athletic participation.
Eagle Athletics is integrated into the academic and service framework of the University. Reflective of our community, the University provides opportunities to excel for student-athletes that come from diverse backgrounds.
The awareness our teams bring to campus is important and of high value to regional and national exposure, and we are proud to serve as the front porch of the University of Mary Washington. Our coaches, student-athletes, and administrators are leaders in engaging our community and providing meaningful and inclusive service.
As we celebrate championships and achievements, we also celebrate the accomplishments of those who work beside us in academics, student life and the arts. The significance of the University of Mary Washington is due to the collective and diverse success of everyone working together.
