UMW Ranks 60th Nationwide in Learfield Sports Directors' Final Standings for 2012-13

The University of Mary Washington athletic department ranked 60th in the nation among more than 450 NCAA Division III schools in the 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, released today.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men’s.

Williams won the 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup for the 16th time in the last 18 years with 1,273.75 points.  The Ephs were the only school to score points in 18 sports and score over 1,000 points.

Rounding out the top five in the final standings were Emory (986.50), Middlebury (941.75), Wisconsin-Whitewater (895.00) and Washington (Mo.) University (859.50).

Mary Washington was the CAC's second-highest finisher among the 330 schools that scored in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.  The Eagles, who earned spring points in men's and women's tennis, finished 60th overall with 274.00 points.
