UMW Athletics Collects 3,242 lb. of Food for Stop Hunger Food Drive

The University of Mary Washington athletic department collected a total of 3,242.5 lb. of food for the Fredericksburg Food Bank through the University's Stop Hunger Food Drive. The total eclipses the previous record for food collected, which has been broken in each of the past three years.

The softball team collected a program-high 1,196 lb of food, becoming the first team to ever solely collect more than 1,000 pounds.

The University community smashed its record - raising a combined 4,715 lbs for the Fredericksburg Food Bank. "Certainly, our student-athletes led the way", said UMW Director of Athletic Development Philip Pierce. "Thanks to all who participated and I hope you are each as proud as I am of this great community initiative!"
