University Tennis Complex
Generally regarded as one of the finest collegiate tennis facilities in the nation, the UMW Tennis facility houses two sets of six courts divided by a concourse that provides seating for hundreds of fans.
The facility, recognized by Tennis Industry magazine as the Facility of the Year in 2001 and by the USTA as the National Collegiate Facility of the Year in 2007, has hosted numerous Capital Athletic Conference, ITA and NCAA Tournament events, including the 2000, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2011 NCAA Tournament opening rounds. The facility is also the annual host of the ITA regional fall tournament, and has hosted NCAA National Championships in 2006, 2007, and 2010.
The six-court indoor complex located adjacent to the outdoor courts was completed in 2006.
DIRECTIONS TO THE TENNIS
FACILITY:
From Interstate 95, take Exit 130A (Route 3 East), and follow
through five stoplights. At the sixth light, turn LEFT onto
Business Route 3 (William Street). At the top of the hill, the road
splits. Stay RIGHT, onto Hanover Street. The Battleground Athletic
Complex is on the RIGHT, with the tennis complex at the
intersection of Hanover Street and College Avenue.
