MEN’S LACROSSE
Frostburg State junior attack RYAN SERIO (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake)
and Mary Washington senior goalie KYLE DAVITT (Shoreview,
Minn./Mounds View) were named the CAC Men’s Lacrosse Players
of the Week.
Serio was named the Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the
Week for the second time this season after leading the Bobcats to a
pair of CAC victories, helping FSU lock up the fourth seed in the
CAC Tournament. Serio scored nine goals and added three assists,
six ground balls and caused two turnovers for FSU, which is making
its first trip to the CAC playoffs in only its third season of
varsity competition. Serio scored four goals in the Bobcats’
13-11 triumph over Mary Washington, then added five goals and three
assists for eight points as FSU secured a first-round home playoff
contest.
Davitt was named the Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the
Week after his first start of the season, where he recorded eight
saves and a 72.7 save percentage in 45 minutes of Saturday’s
Senior Day victory over Marymount, which clinched the #5 seed for
the Eagles in the upcoming CAC playoffs.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Salisbury senior attack KATIE BOLLHORST (Severna Park, Md./St.
Mary’s) and Mary Washington senior defender KATIE MASTROPAOLO
(Ruckersville, Va./Albemarle) were named the CAC Women’s
Lacrosse Players of the Week.
Bollhorst was named the Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of
the Week for the second time this season after scoring eight goals
and dishing out nine assists in three wins for the second-ranked
Sea Gulls. Bollhorst started the week with three goals and three
assists in SU’s victory over 11th-ranked York that clinched
the regular-season title and top seed in the upcoming CAC playoffs.
Her second assist in a four-point performance Saturday vs.
Frostburg State set a team record with 150 career helpers. She then
finished the week with four goals and three assists against
14th-ranked CNU.
Mastropaolo was named the Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player
of the Week after leading the Eagles to two close victories with
nine ground balls, two draw controls and six caused turnovers. She
helped UMW clinch the number three seed in the upcoming playoffs in
the battle vs. Marymount with seven ground balls, both draw
controls and causing three turnovers.
