UMW Sports Information Wins NCAA Award for Feature on National Champion Swimmer Alex Anderson

The NCAA Division III staff is collaborating with the Division III College Sports Information Directors of America (D3SIDA) to recognize outstanding work by sports information offices to portray the division’s model of intercollegiate athletics.

A feature produced by the University of Mary Washington Sports Information Director Clint Often has been awarded honorable mention in a quarterly recognition program jointly sponsored by Division III and D3SIDA, as part of the division’s Identity Initiative. "We believe the feature, titled 'Swimming in Success,' is among the best work – including news releases, feature articles, videos, blogs and other materials – produced in the Division III membership from January through March 2013", said NCAA Vice President for NCAA Division III Dan Dutcher. "The article is particularly laudable for portraying the Division III attributes of Proportion, Comprehensive Learning and Passion."

The work was selected by a panel of sports information officers representing the D3SIDA board of directors, and was among nominees for top honors. The panel selected a video from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to receive top honors for the time period, and also awarded honorable mention to a video series produced by Washington and Lee University.
