The UMW field hockey team produced its second straight Top 10 season in 2013, ranking as high as sixth nationally and finishing 15-3 on the season, to place eighth on the year in review's top 10.

The Eagles started the year coming off its second NCAA Final Four appearance in program history, and, despite the loss of national player of the year Lisa Charney, raced off to a 13-0 start. The Eagles defeated nationally-ranked DePauw, Lynchburg, and Catholic to highlight the run, which saw them outscore opponents, 68-10.

UMW lost just three times all season, with all three coming against teams ranked in the top five in the nation. Senior Caitlin Baker gained first team All-America honors en route to UMW female Athlete of the Year honors, and was joined on all-state and all-region teams by sophomores Jenna Steele and Haley Kane. Five players gained All-CAC accolades.
