UMW Women's Soccer, Field Hockey to Host 2015 CAC Championships on Busy Saturday at UMW

Saturday, November 7 will be a busy day at the Battleground Athletic Complex, as the University of Mary Washington will host three home events, as four teams compete on Championship Saturday for fall Capital Athletic Conference sports.

The day will begin at 1:00 p.m., as the UMW women's soccer team hosts York College for the 2015 CAC Championship on the grass field. In an improbable matchup, the fifth-seeded Eagles host the sixth-seeded Spartans in what is believed to be the first 5-6 matchup for a league title in any sport in conference history. The Eagles defeated York, 2-1, at the Battleground in regular season play. UMW has won more CAC titles in women's soccer than any other school, with 13 league titles.

At 2:00 p.m., the Eagle field hockey team, ranked 11th in the nation, will host seventh-ranked Salisbury University for the 2015 CAC crown. In a battle of the two programs in league history, the winner will gain an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The two teams have combined to win 24 of the league's 25 titles in conference history, with Salisbury taking the title 19 times. UMW topped Salisbury, 2-1, in their regular season matchup.

Also on Saturday, the UMW men's and women's swimming teams will host Marymount University at 1:00 p.m. in Goolrick Natatorium in Capital Athletic Conference action, and the riding team will be on the road for a show at Christopher Newport University at 10:00 a.m.

The Eagles will be hosting two fall CAC Championships for the first time since 1999, when both soccer teams hosted the title matches.
